The method involves strewing a pressed material mat (1) on a molding band (10) by a spreader device (12). The mat is hardened to a material plate in a molding press (11) by pressure and/or heat. Temperature between the spreader device and the molding press is measured by a measuring device (2). A sensor (4) is moved into the pressed material mat by the measuring device to determine a measured temperature value at a surface of the mat. The measuring device is moved with the mat in production direction (16) with same speed during determination of the measured temperature value. The sensor is designed as a pressure temperature (PT) sensor, and the material plate is made of a splinter or a fiber. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring temperature of a pressed material mat during production of material plates.
