PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection system capable of obtaining a good image, even if ambient light is changed, by a simple configuration; and to provide a screen device. SOLUTION: The projection system 1 detects a radiation angle of the strongest ambient light by an ambient light detection means 24, and selects a screen 271 based on angle information related to the detected radiation angle. Accordingly, the system selects a screen 271 having the optimum peak gain so as to reduce an influence of the ambient light, even if the radiation angle of the ambient light is changed, by the simple configuration.
