<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which allows display using light emitted from a backlight and display using external light, without dividing each display pixel to a transmission display region and a reflection display region and is capable of obtaining a high display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel 1 having liquid crystal interposed between a pair of substrates, and a side light type backlight 15 which radiates light led by a light guide plate 16 to the liquid crystal panel 1. The backlight 15 is disposed so that the light guide plate 16 exists between the backlight 15 and the liquid crystal panel 1, and the backlight 15 includes a reflecting plate 19 reflecting light transmitted through the liquid crystal panel 1 and the light guide plate 16 in order and a diffusing plate 35 disposed between the reflecting plate 19 and the light guide plate 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
