PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water decomposition device decomposing water with high efficiency. SOLUTION: The water decomposition device includes: a processing chamber 6; a container 5 for reserving water 2 placed in the processing chamber 6; BN nanotubes 1 immersed in the water 2 in the container 5; a light irradiating device 3 irradiating the BN nanotubes 1 in the water 2 with light so as to decompose water which is physically adsorbed to the BN nanotubes 1 and to generate hydrogen molecules; and an exhausting device 4 exhausting and collecting the hydrogen molecules to the outside of the processing chamber 6.
