The distance measurement device has a transmitter (1) for successive transmission of impulses or pulse trains in directions within a recording range. A receiver (2) is provided for successively receiving each echo from each of the impulse or pulse train from the direction and for changing the echoes in a sequence of electrical signals. A unit (3) is provided for reducing the signals, which are evaluated by an evaluation unit. The unit is connected with the receiver and with a processing unit (4). An independent claim is also included for a method for executing distance measurement with a distance measurement device.
