CORE-SHEATH CONJUGATE FIBER AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SAME

Provided is a conjugate fiber which has excellent transparency and stretchability and gives stretch garments, such as panty hose and stockings, that exhibit excellent longitudinal stretchability and supporting properties and can be reduced in a sense of partial glossiness. Also provided is a core-sheath conjugate fiber capable of being used to produce a stretch garment which has high fabric strength and is less apt to suffer fabric breakage and which, despite this, is easy to put on. One of the core-sheath conjugate fibers is composed of a core part comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer resin (A) and a sheath part comprising a thermoplastic polyester elastomer resin (B), and is characterized in that the core-sheath conjugate fiber, in a tensile test, gives a strength-elongation curve in which the elongation at rise initiation is 30-100%. Another core-sheath conjugate fiber is composed of a core part comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer resin (A) and a sheath part comprising a thermoplastic polyester elastomer resin or polyamide elastomer (B), and is characterized in that when a fabric formed by weaving the core-sheath conjugate fiber is unwoven, the resultant yarn, in a tensile test, gives a strength-elongation curve in which the elongation at a load of 1.2 cN is 12% or higher and the elongation at a load of 8.0 cN is 120% or lower.
