PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply apparatus which, even if a power supply is wrongly connected, and prevents accidents which damages overvoltage, or degrades a component or a load. SOLUTION: The power supply apparatus 10 includes: a rectifying circuit 21, which rectifies a voltage from an AC power supply 40; switching circuits 31a and 31a which switch on and off between the AC power supply 40 and the rectifying circuit 21; and a smoothing capacitor 22 which smoothes the DC voltage rectified via the rectifying circuit 21 and supplies power based on the smoothed DC voltage by the capacitor 22 to a load. The power supply apparatus also includes a time-counting circuit 27, which counts a given time after the switching circuits 31a and 31a are closed, and a determining circuit 28, which detects a charge voltage of the smoothing capacitor 22 during counting of the given time by the time counting circuit 27 and determines whether the detected charge voltage exceeds a given voltage. When the determining circuit 28 determines that the detected charge voltage has exceeded the given voltage, the switching circuits 31a and 31a are opened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
