PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejecting apparatus configured to, in the case of ejecting high-viscosity liquid, suppress residual vibration after ejecting the liquid, and to stably eject the liquid, and to provide the control method of the liquid ejecting apparatus. SOLUTION: A driving signal COM includes: an ejection driving pulse DPM including an expansion element P11 and a contraction element P13; and a cut driving pulse DPC including an expansion element P21, a holding element P22 and a contraction element P23. When a length of time from the end of the contraction element in the ejection driving pulse to the beginning of the expansion element in the cut driving pulse is defined as (t), the lengths of time of the expansion element, holding element and contraction element in the cut driving pulse are defined as (a), (b) and (c), respectively, and the inherent vibration cycle of ink in a pressure generation chamber is defined as (Tc), by supplying the cut driving pulse, amplitude whose phase is opposite to that of the residual vibration caused in the ink in the pressure generation chamber with the ink ejection by the ejection driving pulse is applied.
