PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that applies constant load during image formation even in use of a secondary transfer roller that has a recess formed therein. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a transfer belt 40 to which an image is transferred; a belt drive roller 41 extending the transfer belt 40; a secondary transfer roller 61 disposed opposite to the belt drive roller 41 via the transfer belt 40, and having a recess 605 in its axial direction; a contacting member 650 disposed on the shaft of the secondary transfer roller 61; and a contacted member 690 disposed on the shaft of the belt drive roller 41.
