摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine equipped with a low-pressure EGR device which can prevent condensed water in an admission passage from being generated after passing through an EGR cooler. SOLUTION: A diesel engine 10 equipped with a low-pressure EGR device includes a turbocharger 19, an EGR passage 30, an EGR cooler 31, and a refrigerant pump 37 which adjusts the flow volume of a refrigerant supplied to the EGR cooler 31. An ECU 43 of the diesel engine 10 estimates a target steam partial pressure less than a saturated steam pressure of the intake gas which is the combination of the EGR gas with fresh air and also estimates a target EGR gas temperature which corresponds to the target steam partial pressure. ECU 43 also controls the driving of the refrigerant pump 37. Then the ECU 43 controls the driving of the refrigerant pump 37 so that the EGR gas temperature after passing through the EGR cooler 31 is cooled down to the estimated target EGR gas temperature and adjusts the flow volume of the refrigerant supplied to the EGR cooler 31.
