OPTICAL SIGNAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AND OPTICAL RECEIVER FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow optical intensity to be reduced to a receiving lower limit since an electric signal corresponding to an input optical signal which is determined to be effective is selected so as to be output when achieving a system redundancy.

SOLUTION: The system includes: an optical transmitter having an electro-optical conversion portion for converting a plurality of serial-digital-data-signals into a plurality of optical signals suitable to optical wavelength multiplex; an optical wavelength multiplexer for carrying out wavelength-multiplexing of a plurality of the converted optical signals so as to be output as a multiplex optical signal; an optical wavelength separator for separating an optical multiplex signal into a plurality of optical signals; and an optical receiver having the opto-electrical conversion portion for converting a plurality of the separated optical signals into the electric signals. In the system, the optical receiver has two or more optical signal input portions, the input-optical-signal information such as optical intensity or modulation component and amplitude of the electric signal generated after carrying-out the opto-electrical conversion is detected with respect to the two or more input electric signals, whether or not the input signals are effective is determined based on the detected input optical information, and the electric signal corresponding to the input signal that is determined to be effective is selectively switched so as to be output.
