<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter and a method for producing the honeycomb filter which suppress deformation of a partition wall or thermal stress generated at the end surface of the partition wall, and improve rigidity of the whole of the downstream end surface of a honeycomb structure, wherein the thermal stress generated at the end surface of the partition wall is suppressed at an area A of a sealing part having a higher porosity, while the porosity of the sealing part is reduced to improve the pressure bonding strength at an area B having a lower porosity, thereby suppressing seal missing or soot leakage at the whole of the sealing part, improving the rigidity of the whole of the downstream end surface of the honeycomb structure, suppressing cracks when being regenerated, and improving the regeneration performance thereof. <P>SOLUTION: In the honeycomb filter 1, opening end portions 11 (11a) formed on the downstream sides of multiple flowing holes 3, and opening end portions 11 (11b) formed on the upstream sides are alternately sealed to form the sealing parts 6, and at least a sealing part 6 formed on the downstream side includes the area A (denoted by numeral 7) having a higher porosity relative to the porosity of the partition wall 4, and the area B (denoted by numeral 9) having a lower porosity relative to the porosity of the partition wall. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
