PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and highly precisely inspect a print result of a print embedded with a special image. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is for embedding a code image indicating code information in an original image, and for recording it on a sheet in order to manage an object image to be visibly recorded on a sheet. The image forming apparatus is provided with a recoding means for recording unit images each of which has one unit information with prescribed intervals as the code image on the sheet. When the average interval of a main scanning direction and the average interval of a sub-scanning direction, of the mutual unit images, are respectively defined as X and Y, the histogram of density is created by unit region with the number of pixels which are equal to or more than the main scanning direction X and the sub-scanning direction Y, so that the recorded code image is retrieved.
