PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode structure in which a fractured part is situated away from a weld zone in the strength verification test of a high strength reinforcing bar joined by upset butt welding. SOLUTION: In an upset butt welding machine, welding is performed by making an electric current flow to the butted part of one end of a high strength reinforcing bar held in a fixed electrode and the other end of a high strength reinforcing bar held in a movable electrode. A non-conductive mold is attached to the inside of the fixed electrode and also to the inside of the movable electrode. As a result, the electrode structure of the upset butt welding is characterized in that no misalignment takes place even when an inter-electrode clearance is widened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
