PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic display element having performance excellent in reliability, and to provide a method for manufacturing the electrochromic display element. SOLUTION: The electrochromic display element includes: a display substrate 1; and an opposite substrate 6 arranged opposite to the display substrate 1. In addition, the electrochromic display element has: a first partition 7 which is formed in a display area 11 having a plurality of pixels 10; and a second partition 8, which surrounds the display area 11 and formed of the same material as that of the first partition 7 between the display substrate 1 and the opposite substrate 6.
