Various methods and systems for generating a transaction document used in a transaction are provided. For example, the method may include generating a plurality of potential transaction documents, at least one of which is to be used in the transaction. The method may further include creating one or more associations that relate the potential transaction document to be used in the transaction to transaction information used in the transaction. The method may further include receiving the transaction information, storing the transaction information in a uniform hierarchical format, selecting the potential transaction document to be used in the transaction, and rendering the transaction document based on the transaction information in the uniform hierarchical format, the one or more associations, and the selected potential transaction document to be used in the transaction.
