Provided is an endoscope capable of miniaturizing the end portion of an insertion portion to improve insertion properties while ensuring an excellent observation view by improving the distribution properties of illumination light. Adopted is an endoscope (1) comprising a tubular insertion portion (13) provided with an end portion (11), light guides (15) which are housed within the insertion portion (13), and which light-guide illumination light toward the end portion (11), planoconcave lenses (17) which are arranged at the end portion (11) of the insertion portion (13), and which irradiate the illumination light light-guided by the light guides (15), and an objective lens (19) for converging the light from an observation area (A) illuminated by the planoconcave lenses (17), wherein the end portion facing the planoconcave lenses (17) of the light guides (15) extends in approximately parallel to an optical axis (L) of the objective lens (19), and a shoulder portion (21) of the end portion (11) and the outer surfaces of the planoconcave lenses (17) positioned on the shoulder portion (21) are inclined in such a manner as to taper toward the end. |
