PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing heat of hydration of a cement composition, by which the heat of hydration is reduced while maintaining strength developability of concrete in a medium and long term, for example, at 7, 28 and/or 91 days of material age. SOLUTION: The method for reducing the heat of hydration of a cement composition includes using a cement production apparatus 1 equipped with: a rotary kiln 2 for preparing cement clinker; a chlorine bypass 5 for extracting at least a portion of a combustion gas containing chlorine and/or alkali produced in the rotary kiln 2; and a crusher 100 for mixing the cement clinker and gypsum and crushing the resulting mixture. The method includes an adjusting process for adjusting at least one of the unit requirement of the raw material of the cement clinker, the unit requirement of the fuel and the extraction amount of the combustion gas in the chlorine bypass 5, according to the content of chloride ion in the cement composition.
