The device has a swiveling piece brought into an opening position in an operating condition of a rear view camera (1) and into a closing position in a non-operating condition of the camera, which is covered in the closing position, where the camera is stationarly supported in a body aperture of a vehicle. A tilted mirror is arranged at inner side of the piece and enables detection of rear region of the vehicle during operating condition of the camera. A sealing separating wall (5) outwardly seals the camera and a drive unit (2) including an electric motor (3) and a gear (4) i.e. spur gear.
