<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium to clearly show magnetic difference between recording element and concave part at the boundary of them and to ensure higher manufacturing efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium 10 includes: a substrate 12; a recording layer 14 formed on the substrate 12 with the predetermined convex-concave pattern, wherein the convex part of the convex-concave pattern constitutes a recording element 14A; and a filling part 18 for filling the concave part 16 between the recording elements 14A.
