System to enhance data entry using letters associated with finger movement directions, regardless of point of contact

A data entry system is disclosed. The system comprises of a data entry unit and a processor. The data entry unit is adapted to identify finger movements. The processor is adapted to associate movements in different directions identified by the data entry unit with groups of letters selected responsive to the direction of the movement and regardless of the location of the movement. At least one of the groups includes a plurality of different letters.
