The invention relates to a method for producing a coated aluminum strap, wherein the aluminum strap is wound off a coil and fed to a one-sided or double-sided extrusion coating process, the aluminum strap is extrusion-coated with a thermoplastic resin, and after extrusion coating the aluminum strap is reheated to a metal temperature above the melting point temperature of the thermoplastic resin. The aim to provide a method for producing an aluminum strap by which an extrusion-coated aluminum strap can be produced, which can be processed at high processing speeds in follow-on composite tools, is achieved in that the one-sided or double-sided plastic coating of the aluminum strap is structured after reheating using a roller having a surface structure.
