PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus achieving focusing operation according to user's intuition, extending width of operational input, and facilitating the operational input. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus including an imaging lens, an imaging device and an image display means includes: an acceleration detection means that detects acceleration in two axial directions of the imaging apparatus; a tilt detection means that detects a tilt state of the imaging apparatus; an angular velocity detection means that detects angular velocity of the imaging apparatus; an operation determination means that determines that an operation is applied in the two axial directions when the acceleration exceeds the predetermined one, determines that an operation is applied in a rolling direction when tilt in a rotating direction is detected by the tilt detection means, and determines that an operation is applied in a pitch direction or a yaw direction when rotation is detected by the angular velocity detection means; and a focus control means that sets the focus position of the imaging lens in accordance with determination by the operation determination means.
