A route setting server provided with a storage unit, an IP routing unit, and a flow control unit. The storage unit has stored therein a routing judgment table showing, among a plurality of nodes, the router nodes that are allocated to IP routers. The IP routing unit has, for each router node, a software-based IP routing module providing the same functions as the IP router. The flow control unit refers to the routing judgment table to check whether the requesting node of the route setting request is any of the router nodes. The IP routing unit uses the IP routing module corresponding to the relevant router node to perform IP routing of packets and update the headers of the packets. Then, the requesting node of the route setting request is updated to the destination node designated by the destination MAC address of the packets. By repeating such processing, a communication route is determined. |
