摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress: the manufacturing cost for an end surface incidence type light-receiving element mounted on an optical reception module; and a decrease in yield of manufacturing processes. <P>SOLUTION: The end surface incidence type light-receiving element 10 is mounted on a sub-carrier 20 so that a light absorption layer 15 for absorbing light is arranged and light emitted from the projection end surface of a waveguide 34 where light is propagated is incident on the light reception end surface of the light absorption layer 15. On the mounting surface of the light-receiving element 10 on the sub-carrier 20, a step structure is formed, which comprises a light reception portion 16 having the light absorption layer 15 and formed to be projected in a mesa shape in the layer thickness direction of the light absorption layer 15, and a positioning projection portion 18 formed to be projected while having a light-receiving element height reference surface 17 abutting against the sub-carrier 20 in a state that the light-receiving element 10 is mounted on the sub-carrier 20 to position the light-receiving element 10 relatively to the sub-carrier 20 in the layer thickness direction of the light absorption layer 15, and the front surface of the light reception portion 16 is recessed low from the reference surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
