PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader in which the length of a casing in a sub-scanning direction is shortened to attach a reflection member to the casing and which is therefore made compact, and also to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the image reader. SOLUTION: Each clip 93 includes: a bending part 94 which is put through a notched part 91 formed at a sub-scanning-direction end of a side board 41a in the casing 41, is bent in the sub-scanning direction, and also is abutted on the other side surface B1 of the sub-scanning direction in a reflection mirror 60a at the bent place; an engagement pawl 94a which is arranged so as to project from the upper end of the bending part 94 in the height direction of the reflection mirror 60a substantially orthogonally crossed with a main scanning direction and which is engaged with the inner surface of the side board 41a positioned on the inner side of the inner peripheral edge of the notched part 91; a fitting part 95 to be suitable for an aperture hole 92 and having a fitting hole 95a to be suitable for a projection 92a arranged in the aperture hole 92; and a successive connection part 96 successively connecting the bending part 94 to the fitting part 95 and facing the side board 41a.
