PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately detect the face of an imaged person under backlight. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 2 includes a face detection section 41 which detects a moving body from an image imaged by an imaging section 10, calculates an extent of backlight based on luminance information of a moving body area including the detected moving body, determines an offset value for binarization processing corresponding to the calculated extent of backlight, binarizes the image based on the determined offset value, and detects the face of a person of a subject from the binarized image.
