PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce weight of a valve element, while easily and inexpensively manufacturing the valve element of a soft seal gate valve capable of restraining a melting-out quantity of a rubber additive. SOLUTION: The valve element 4 is formed as a hollow shell structurer welded by inwardly butting a cup-shaped body 8 for forming an upstream side part and a downstream side part to a fluid passage, and a rubber sealant 7 for sealing a part between an opening part of a valve casing and a fluid passage inner surface in the opening part in a valve closing state, is formed in an annular shape of covering an outer diameter side part in which the valve element 4 is opposed to the opening part of the valve casing and the fluid passage inner surface in the opening part, so that a surface area in which the rubber sealant 7 is exposed to tap water is reduced, and the valve element 4 of the soft seal gate valve capable of restraining the melting-out quantity of the rubber additive, can be easily and inexpensively manufactured, and weight of the valve element 4 can be reduced.
