SOLUTION: The method for press-forming the bismuth-containing glass containing Bi2O3and B2O3as the oxide ingredients includes: (1) a step 1 to manufacture preform glass by polishing or cutting the bismuth-containing glass; and (2) a step 2 to heat the preform glass at lower than a softening temperature in an non-oxidizing atmosphere and to perform press-forming. In the step 1 of the press-forming method, it is characterized in that the preform glass is manufactured by (A) polishing or cutting using a grinding fluid having a moisture-containing ratio of 10 wt.% or less or (B) heating in an oxidizing atmosphere after polishing or cutting using a grinding fluid having a moisture-containing ratio of more than 10 wt.%.
