<p>Disclosed are a light irradiation device enabling reduction of background light noise from a plurality of wells provided in a micro-plate and so forth. The light irradiation device is provided with the micro-plate (20), a light guide member (60), and a light source device (62). The light guide member (60) is provided with a plurality of light output sections so provided to a main surface (61a) as to correspond to the wells (21). Each light output section includes a recess part (61e) having an opening in the main surface (61a). A measurement light beam from the light source device (62) enters through a side surface (61b), is refracted and reflected at the side surface of each recess part (61e), and is caused to exit from the opening of each recess part (61e). With this configuration, of the measurement light beam entering through a back surface (23), the measurement light component striking the back surface (23) perpendicularly thereto can be remarkably reduced. Consequently, the background light noise from the wells (21) produced in response to the irradiation with the measurement light is effectively reduced.</p> |
