PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a triple tube type high pressure discharge lamp which prevents inclination of an inner tube without being influenced by a diameter of an outer tube. SOLUTION: The high pressure discharge lamp comprises: a base B having an inner tube fixing section 32, an outer tube fixing section 33, and a power receiving section 31; the inner tube IT airtightly storing a light emitting tube LT in the inside and making a pinch seal section 12 formed at a base end fix on an inner tube fixing section 32 of the base B and having a connecting capillary 11 which is communicated inside and seals the pointed head by projecting it from an outer surface of a top section; and the outer tube OT storing the inner tube IT by forming a gap in the circumference and fixed on the outer tube fixing section 33 of the base B while the base end is opened and having a capillary connection section 21 at the top section and preventing inclination of the inner tube IT by making the connecting capillary 11 of the inner tube 11 connect with the capillary connection section 21.
