PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of excellently projecting an image without giving a glare to an observer for a projected image. SOLUTION: The projector includes a projection 26 projecting the image on a placing surface with a box body put on the placing surface, a reference light projection 38 projecting a reference light on the placing surface, and a scattered light detector 40 detecting the scattered light of the reference light projected on the placing surface. The projector further includes a comparator 42 comparing the brightness of the scattered light detected in the scattered light detector with a fixed threshold value, and a projection controller 34 changing the brightness of projected light projected from the projection on the basis of the result of comparison by the comparator.
