A nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode includes a lithium/manganese-containing oxide represented by LiaMnbMcOZ (M is at least one selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Al and F, and a, b, c and Z satisfy the following equations: 0≦̸a≦̸2.5, 0<b≦̸1, 0≦̸c≦̸1 and 2≦̸Z≦̸3) and a Fe-containing phosphorous compound having an olivine structure. The negative electrode includes a titanium-containing metal oxide into which lithium ions are inserted and from which lithium ions are extracted.
