PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To straighten the relationship between the number of coins and both end voltages of an electromagnetic induction coil, in an instrument for measuring a numerical quantity of the coins by detecting both end voltages of the electromagnetic induction coil coupled electromagnetically to the coins to be counted. SOLUTION: A coin counter includes a coin storage unit 10 for storing the coins CN while aligned along a linear direction to be stacked, the electromagnetic induction coil 30 arranged in the coin storage unit 10, to incline the center axis AX<SB>COL</SB>of the coil with respect to a direction axis AX<SB>CNP</SB>orthogonal to a direction P(AX<SB>CN</SB>) stacked with the coins CN, within a plane including the direction P(AX<SB>CN</SB>) stacked with the coins CN, a detection unit 41 for detecting the voltages in both ends of the electromagnetic induction coil 30, and a coin numerical quantity computing unit 43 for counting the number of the stored coins CN in the condition where the coins CN are stored in the coin storage unit 10, based on the voltages detected by the detection unit 41.
