PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the responsiveness of the amount of fuel injected with respect to a change in intake air volume, in a fuel supply system for a cylinder direct injection internal combustion engine including a variable lift mechanism varying the lift of an intake valve. SOLUTION: This fuel supply system supplies fuel to the fuel injection valve 6 of the cylinder direct injection internal combustion engine 1 including the variable lift mechanism (VEL) 16 changing the lift of the intake valve 7 by a fuel pump (high-pressure pump) 41 sucking/delivering fuel by a plunger 49 reciprocating in a cylinder 47. In the fuel supply system, a variable stroke mechanism 71 linked with the variable lift mechanism (VEL) 16 is disposed for changing the stroke of the reciprocating motion of the plunger 49 according to the change in the lift of the intake valve 7.
