The invention relates to a miter saw, comprising a carrier (1) forming a workpiece support surface (2), a mounting (3) attached to the carrier (1), and a saw unit (5) that is attached to the mounting (3) above the carrier (1) and can be pivoted about a lateral axis (4) from a raised resting position into a lowered sawing position and vice versa. The saw unit (5) is pretensioned in the direction of the resting position, wherein the saw unit (5) can be locked on the mounting (3) by means of transport securing means (15) in a lowered transport position, which is preferably as low as the lowest sawing position and/or in which a saw blade (8) of the saw unit (5) is inserted with a partial piece on the edge side into in an insertion slit in the workpiece support surface (2).
