PURPOSE: An edge light type illuminating apparatus is provided to supply sufficient light toward the lower side of the perpendicular direction of the illuminating apparatus by maintaining the brightness at the inner circumference of buildings. CONSTITUTION: The rectangular shape of light guiding plate(1) is prepared. Light source(2A) is arranged on at least one lateral end of the light guiding plate. Light from the light source toward the lateral end of the light guiding plate is emitted through the light emitting surface of the light guiding plate. The rectangular shape of a reflection film(3) is arranged on the reflection surface which is opposite to the light emitting surface. The rectangular shape of a light diffusion plate(6) is arranged on the light emitting surface.
