<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite pigment material using a metal or a metal compound having the excellent storage stability without a problem of reaction with water, and a composite pigment as an aqueous ink composition for ink jet, capable of maintaining dispersion stability in an aqueous system with the excellent printing quality and storage stability, and a quick-drying property for obtaining a recorded matter with the excellent water resistance, light resistance and glossiness. <P>SOLUTION: The composite pigment material has a structure with a resin layer and a pigment layer laminated successively onto a sheet-like substrate. The pigment layer has a structure with a silicon oxide layer, a metal or metal compound layer, and a silicon oxide layer laminated successively.
