<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and drying machine, capable of improving indoor environments by emission of warm air after drying action, and achieving compactness of a heat pump mechanism, while taking advantages of a heater device and the heat pump mechanism usable as a heat source for warm air. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The washing and drying machine includes a water tank 7 provided in a body in a cylindrical form with a bottom in which water can be stored, a rotating tank 10 provided in the water tank to be rotatable around a vertical axis in a cylindrical form with a bottom, a circulation passage 20 provided to communicate with an upper part and a lower part of the water tank 7, the heater device 24 and a blower device 25 provided in the circulation passage 20 to generate warm air in drying operation, an evaporator 26b and a condenser 26a of the heat pump mechanism 26, and an exhaust means to emit warm air in the water tank 7 out of the body.
