<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety according to the type of a collision. <P>SOLUTION: If a collision is predicted, and the collision is not detected after the tilt angle of a seat back is adjusted to a predetermined appropriate range (200-212), the seat back is returned to the tilt angle at which the seat back is not adjusted (214). When a frontal collision is detected after the seat back is adjusted, the seat back is tilted by an angle A rearward (216, 218). When a side collision is detected after the seat back is adjusted, the seat back is tilted by an angle B rearward (220, 222).
