<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-lumnance light emitting diode that can improve extraction efficiency of light having its wavelength converted by a phosphor and increase the amount and surface area of the phosphor. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting diode 10 is constituted by connecting and fixing an LED chip 14 on a substrate 12 made of an insulating material, connecting one electrode of the LED chip 14 to one external electrode 16a and the other electrode of the LED chip 14 to the other external electrode 16a, enclosing the LED chip 14 with cylindrical nonwoven fabric 22, carrying the phosphor 20 on a surface of fiber 24 forming the nonwoven fabric 22, further enclosing the LED chip 14 and nonwoven fabric 22 with a frame member 28, and sealing the LED chip 14 with a translucent lid member 30 formed by charging a translucent material in the frame member 28. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
