PHENOL RESIN, RESIN COMPOSITION FOR WET PAPER FRICTION MATERIAL, AND WET PAPER FRICTION MATERIAL

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a phenol resin for wet paper friction material which retains the coefficient of friction, and has a high strength and yet excellent flexibility; a resin composition for wet paper friction material using the phenol resin; and a paper friction material. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The phenol rein is obtained by reacting phenols and aldehydes in the presence of a needle-shaped filler surface-treated with a basic catalyst and a coupling agent.
