<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably obtain a good image without uneven density by restraining unevenness of temperature in a transfer roller in guiding a record medium between an image carrier holding a toner image and the transfer roller and transferring the toner image held on the image carrier to the record medium by the transfer roller. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, the record medium S is guided between the image carrier 2 holding the toner image and the transfer roller 20, and the toner image held on the image carrier is transferred to the record medium by the transfer roller. In the transfer roller used, a plurality of layers 22-24 are stacked on the outer periphery of a rotating shaft 21, and a thermal conductive layer 24 having a higher thermal conductivity than the other layers is formed on the outermost surface layer.
