DIGITAL BROADCAST RECORDING AND PLAYBACK DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To play back a recorded program without futility while reducing a processing load when recording a scrambled digital broadcast program.

SOLUTION: The device includes: a memory means after re-encryption 10 which memorizes a broadcast stream re-encrypted for recording; a memory means before re-encryption 12 which stores a received encrypted different broadcast stream; a re-encryption timing discrimination unit 13 which calculates re-encryption start timing which makes local encryption possible considering an expiration date of license of the encrypted broadcast stream stored in the memory means before re-encryption 12. After giving and decoding the broadcast stream encrypted by the memory means before re-encryption 12 to a descrambler 3 based on the re-encryption start timing, the device locally re-encrypted the decoded broadcast stream and re-stores in the memory means after re-encryption 10.
