PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cord evaluation method and a device capable of evaluating a terminal processing state of a multimode optical fiber cord subjected to terminal processing and an influence of the cord on a transmission band. SOLUTION: A calculated value of the transmission band determined from a mode diffusion equation is compared with a measured value measured by using the optical fiber cord evaluation device 1. When the calculated value of the transmission band does not agree with the measured value, a calculation model of the mode diffusion equation is restudied again. When the calculated value of the transmission band agrees with the measured value, excitation NA used in calculation is compared with NA<SB>L</SB>which is a measured excitation NA, to determine a differenceΔNA therebetween. When the differenceΔNA is almost zero, the terminal of an optical fiber to be measured is processed satisfactorily, and on the contrary, when the differenceΔNA is large, the terminal processing state of the optical fiber to be measured has irregularities.
