PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article carrying device capable of accurately adjusting a projection quantity so as to obtain a projection quantity corresponding to a dislocation quantity from the reference position of an article in the protruding-retreating direction of a placing body. SOLUTION: This article carrying device is provided with the placing body connected to a rocking body rockably operated by a driving means, a driving quantity detecting means and an operation control means, and is constituted so that an article state detecting sensor for detecting a protruding-retreating dislocation quantity from the reference position of the article is arranged in the placing body, and the operation control means determines the protruding-retreating dislocating quantity based on the detecting information of the article state detecting sensor and the driving quantity detecting means, and when controlling protruding-retreating operation based on the detecting information of the driving quantity detecting means so that the placing body is positioned in a correcting position dislocated by the protruding-retreating dislocation quantity from the reference position, a driving quantity of a driving means is determined by converting a protruding-retreating quantity into a driving quantity by a converting unit protruding-retreating quantity R(ON) per unit driving quantity of the driving means on a position in the protruding-retreating direction of the placing body in the sensor detecting timing CNT(ON).
