<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon structure having a large surface area and exhibiting magnetic characteristic which is used for recovering a target material in a bioscreening and uses silicon having high machinability, low melting point and low density. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The silicon structure 10 is provided with a base material 11 and a plurality of fibrous projecting materials 12 containing silicon dioxide as an essential component and directly joined to the surface of the base material 11 which contains silicon as an essential component. A magnetic body is supported by the fibrous projecting material 12. The surface area is increased by forming the plurality of the fibrous projecting materials 12 comprising silicon dioxide to be densely entangled and magnetic separation and highly efficient recovery are available by supporting the magnetic body 13 on the fibrous projecting materials 12.
