<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adequately diagnose fuel-saving driving even in such a situation that the traveling speed of a vehicle is unnecessarily changed in coasting. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A distance a vehicle travels with an accelerator opening made to be zero during a deceleration period to a vehicle stopping condition or a vehicle slowing down condition is calculated. In particular, it is detected that the vehicle is stopped or slows down, and it is detected that the accelerator opening is made to be zero during the deceleration period to the vehicle stopped condition or the vehicle slowing down condition. A period when the vehicle is stopped or slows down and the accelerator opening is made to be zero is calculated, and further the travel distance the vehicle travels during the calculated period is calculated.
