<p>A transmission system has a plurality of transmission lines connected in series, and a plurality of dispersion compensators provided in every transmission line in order to compensate for wavelength dispersion of the transmission line. Each dispersion compensator includes at least one set of at least one first dispersion compensator and at least one second dispersion compensator. The first dispersion compensator is configured so that the wavelength dispersion characteristics indicating variation in variance for the wavelength after compensating for wavelength dispersion of the transmission line connected with the compensator are given within an error range on the positive side of error standard for the standard characteristics. The second dispersion compensator is configured so that the wavelength dispersion characteristics indicating variation in variance for the wavelength after compensating for wavelength dispersion of the transmission line connected with the compensator are given within an error range on the negative side of the error standard.</p> |
