<p>A storage system comprises a first storage device and a second storage device having a higher speed than the first storage device in reading the stored data. The storage system further comprises: a feature calculating unit for calculating feature data based on the data content of data to be stored; a data management unit for storing the data to be stored and managing the storage location of the data to be stored on the basis of the feature data calculated from the data to be stored; and a duplication determination unit for determining, based on the feature data calculated from the data to be stored, whether the same data as data to be newly stored is already stored in the first storage device. The data management unit, when the same data as the data to be newly stored is already stored in the first storage device, also stores the data to be stored, which is already stored in the first storage device, into the second storage device.</p> |
